Chamomile: Jump on with the Summer Special

Below are some quick character introductions and a recap of relevant plot developments that occured prior to the Summer Special.

As mentioned before, the ideal way to experience the characters and story is naturally through reading the comic from the start, if you’re at all the type to care about spoilers in the media you consume, click here to turn back now! If spoilers typically don’t affect your enjoyment of media and you’re comfortable with the trade-off to get into the comic faster, read on.

Chamomile has a tendency to focus on the first thought that pops into her head, causing others to see her as a bit of a ditz, but you'd be lucky to find a more stalwart and loving friend. She takes a fair bit of pride in her physical appearance and aspires to enter modelling work.

Brianna is Chamomile's best friend since childhood. She's an anxious person who is very sentimental about the past, but has somehow really harnessed an adult energy to just get on with things in spite of that, and ended up owning a local café called The Cubby.

Vienna became friends with Brianna and (reluctantly) Chamomile in adulthood, and shortly after began working at The Cubby. She’s a total nerd for video games, horror and history in her spare time. She tends to comes off as cold and grumpy, but she's actually quite the romantic.

Layla was a high school friend of Chamomile and Brianna who re-united with them as an adult, now assistant manager at local chain music shop Repeat 1 Records. She's the first to speak her mind without a filter, and something of a neutral force among the group, either acting voice of reason or egging on nonsense, depending on her mood.

Samantha, an ex-colleague of Chamomile and Layla at Repeat 1 Records, is one of those people who doesn't really have it all together but sure is good at convincing you otherwise. She's a bit of a busybody who's always interested in hearing people's stories and/or making herself a part of them.

The Seagull won’t actually come up in the Summer Special. But watch out.

Story Recap

Vienna has been seeking a girlfriend for the majority of her life, with no success. After a failed date, Brianna gives her a platonic kiss on the cheek during a pep talk, and poor Vienna unintentionally fixates upon it, quickly developing a secret crush on Brianna.

During a night out, Samantha tries to get to know Vienna a bit better as they’ve always been at opposite ends of their friendship group in terms of who knows who best. After hearing of Vi's romantic woes, she immediately declares herself Vi's wing-woman. Sam privately considers Brianna as a potential setup, but upon learning that Bri is only attracted to men, abandons the idea.

Vi continues to crush on Brianna, unaware of the issue of incompatible sexuality, and Sam continues to try and aid Vienna's pursuit of said crush - unaware of who it is since Vienna is too shy to say. Despite this, Sam and Vi do at least become good friends through Sam's unrequested but secretly appreciated continuation of her wing-woman...ing.

But... one day, we suddenly see that in spite of the odds, all has gone well for Vienna…?

And so, the Summer Special begins!

Huh? You’re wondering what the main character, Chamomile has been doing throughout all this?

Just normal stuff, mostly.
