ORIGINAL CHARACTER DIRECTORY
This page contains brief bios for my most frequently drawn characters, categorised by my two comics: Chamomile and Phantasm Dyad and then miscelleanous characters. Chamomile and Phantasm Dyad feature many characters beyond those listed here - this list simply focuses on characters who are regularly drawn outside of the comics in pin-up artwork etc, so those who are interested can get a brief background on them if they don’t want to just dive into the comics and find out in full.
Clicking a character’s name will take you to my tumblr art blog, letting you browse all art featuring that character. All other links on this page are also mostly tumblr-centric at time of writing since these biographies were copied directly from my character directory on my blog there. I’ll update that and tidy this page a little more in the future.
(As of 2024, this page is due for an update - some characters are missing and all the artwork used here is a fair few years old now - but it’s not a high priority so bear with me).
Chamomile Characters
Chamomile is a slice-of-life comedy comic series I currently publish once a week.
Chamomile (2016)
Chamomile is the main character from my weekly humour comic strip of the same name. She tends to not be very quick to the draw as far as common sense is concerned, and has a habit of allowing herself to coast through life without much effort, but no-one really minds because you’d be hard-pressed to find a friend as loyal and caring as her. She enjoys amateur photography, both of herself and the world around her, and would love to be a professional model if she could only get her act together. Read her full story (so far) in Chamomile.
Brianna (2016)
Brianna is Chamomile’s best friend since childhood, and owns and runs a local café called “The Cubby”. She tends to be Cammie’s guidepost in life, even though she doesn’t have a huge amount of confidence in her own adulting. She’s extremely nostalgic and tends to be overly precious about fond memories from the past. Read her full story (so far) in Chamomile.
Layla (2017)
A high school friend of Chamomile and Brianna. She’s friendly and upbeat, but a little more hardened by adult life than Chamomile. Despite travelling away from the town she grew up in for higher education, after graduating she found herself back home in an assistant management position at a minor music chain shop. Samantha (2017)
Samantha is a real big-sister-to-everyone type who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and has gotten into all sorts of antics and mishaps with Chamomile and Layla when they became colleagues, forming a strong friendship despite not seeing much of each other outside of work. Vienna (2017)
Vienna is a character from the Chamomile comic series who exists as somewhat of a force of pessimism towards life in contrast to Chamomile’s optimism. Regardless, she’s a loyal friend once she gets to know you. Unlike Cammie, Brianna and Layla, she is the only main character who entered the friendship group as an adult, meeting Brianna just a few months before when the comic began. Phantasm Dyad Characters
Phantasm Dyad is a paranormal comedy/drama series I had been working on since my late teenage years, producing over 400 pages across over 18 chapters, but is unfortunately currently on indefinite hiatus in an unfinished state.
Alice Grayson (2005)
A brave albeit slightly-in-over-her-head trainee ghost researcher from The Unspecified Town. After gaining an obsession with ghosts and the afterlife following the death of her older brother when she was a child, she found herself wrapped up in the madcap life of veteran Ghost Researcher Professor Chin. She’s outwardly friendly, if a little shy at first, but often allows her emotions to get the better of her, be it her heartbroken feelings for her lost brother or her weak tolerance for the Professor’s antics. Her utmost patience and trust are only for those in her life who have truly earned it. Read her full story (so far) in the comic Phantasm Dyad.
Chrysan Chin (2006)
The friendly younger sister of Professor Chin, who unfortunately died when she was only 9, but true to her aspirations of being a grown-up, chooses to appear somewhere in her late teens as a ghost. She’s a budding optimist, but was bestowed with great power as part of the “Phantasm Dyad”, who are tasked with somewhat policing the world of ghosts, a job that often puts her optimism completely to the test and beyond. After they met, she became good friends with Alice. Read her full story (so far) in the comic Phantasm Dyad.
Laura Claremont (2008)
Alice’s best friend whom she met in college, despite Laura being a year below her. Laura is extremely active and daring, a total extrovert who loves fun, partying and adventure. She’ll often be the one to pull Alice out of a rut by the ear if she has to, and egg her on in her life endeavours. Laura always wants to feel she lives life to the fullest, and never apologises for who she is - even if she occasionally has to for what she’s done. She doesn’t give one crap about anything you have to say about her, but is fiercely defensive of her friends. Read her full story (so far) in the comic Phantasm Dyad.
Venus (2007)
Venus is a mage who identified as part of an benevolent entity known as The Satellite Order. She has met and fought ghostly threats alongside Alice on a couple of occasions. She is very competent with her magic, but refuses to fight unless she has no other choice, always believing in giving malevolent forces a chance to surrender and resolve matters peacefully. She developed some slight one-sided feelings for Alice during their limited time together. Polly Vote (2010)
One of Alice’s flatmates at University. Polly is a slightly ditzy fashion student, with, in contrast to fellow fashion student Rani, particular interest in more ridiculous, artistic fashion than coming up with snazzy day to day wear. While everything is intended on her end, many find her clothing choices to be somewhat weird and mismatching. She is relentlessly agreeable as a person, and has a habit of spreading an obnoxious amount of joy and enthusiasm around wherever she goes. She can’t help but want to be everybody’s best friend. At first Alice finds her annoying due to her relentless interest in Alice’s ghost researching ways, but some dire situations bring Alice and Polly closer together than Alice expected. Rani Septor (2009)
Another one of Alice’s flatmates at University. Rani is a fashion student who, in contrast to fellow fashion student Polly, specialises more in snazzy day to day wear than ridiculous, artistic fashion, and enjoys networking and running her own fashion blog. She oozes confidence, and is quite happy to use what nature gave her to get her way now and then. Among Alice’s flat, she ends up as something of a mother figure, keeping everyone in check and dolling out advice whenever she sees someone is in need of help. She seems to have an odd affinity for hanging out with or having intelligent conversation with other flatmate Hayden, even though most of the time you’ll see her insulting or belittling him. Hope Lauren (2014)
An independant ghost researcher who has great aspirations to eventually work for the British Ghost Institute. Unfortunately her inability to be assertive often holds her back. (Hope no longer appears in End-of-Month Pin-Up polls due to a lack of relevancy/popularity).
Emily Snow (2007)
A mysterious girl who Alice encounters two times, who appears to be a ghost but behaves very unusually for one, appearing and disappearing with no fanfare whatsoever. She’s always very serious and determined about all she does, and personality-wise, a touch snobby. Her true nature is yet to be revealed, and will continue to be kept underwraps in the hope just maybe I’ll finish the comic someday. Her appearances have been extremely limited thus far, but you can read them in the comic Phantasm Dyad.
Pin-Up Girls and Other Characters
Kay (2012)
A pin-up character generally intended for erotic art. Kay is an upbeat, plucky girl who is generally up for anything sexually, particularly because she makes a habit of somehow appearing in people’s dreams to have vividly realistic experiences with them without any consequence.
May B. (2020)
A pin-up character generally intended for erotic art. May B. is a close friend of Kay's. While Kay is open and unashamed about her sexuality and desires, May is easily flustered and embarrassed by sexual situations and discussions, even though she is ta-ho-tally into them.
Rhubarb (2011)
A pin-up character generally intended for erotic art. Rhubarb is a friendly and sexually active bachelorette who likes to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She’s also a completely strict nudist 24/7, but lives in a version of our world where this is perfectly acceptable.
Gerlinde Spellmeyer (2017)
A pin-up character generally intended for erotic art. The daughter of the rich mayor of the village she lives in, she’s a bit of a snob in all things except for her sex life. She uses her status to fool around with whoever she likes, knowing that if word of it ever got out, her high-ranked father (who still sees her as a perfect prim and proper princess) would call slander and put that person’s future in the village into serious jeapordy. Strangely enough, none of the guys she targets seem to mind.
Shelly (2017)
A sporty pin-up girl character who has a strange tendancy to get into inconveniently or precariously sexy situations as the result of the actions of a smiling little snail.
MM (2016)
A pin-up character generally intended for erotic art. MM has no real backstory or personality, but I use her when I feel like drawing a slightly more down-to-earth character, as oppose to my other rather cartooney smut characters.
(MM no longer appears in End-of-Month Pin-Up polls due to a lack of relevancy/popularity).
Ruin (2017)
A very new character who comes from a fantasy setting unlike our own world. She has very little decided about her at time of writing. This description will be updated once I flesh her out more in my mind.
Erin (2010)
A girl from a fictional/fantasy world. She lives in an isolated town located in the depths of a seemingly infinite ice-clad cavern, floating above a bottomless pit. She’s not entirely happy with life in such an existence, but distinctly tries to avoid stirring up trouble for the other residents of the town because of it. She’s the type to sometimes take a defeatist route in life, but make the choice to do so an active and meaningful decision, so she still feels she owns her destiny.
Beatroot (2010)
My main Phantasy Star Online character, first created in Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, with most depictions being that of her recreation in Phantasy Star Online 2. While she is an exception on this list for not really being 100% “my” character, I enjoy drawing her and others’ drawing her exactly as much as I do one of my proper OCs, so she felt worth the inclusion. A female Newman, Hunter in PSOBB and Fighter/Braver in PSO2. She’s a bit of a dork with an affinity for puns, and is only a vaguely competent Hunter/ARKS Employee, she’d rather just hang around and chat with her friends, and rarely takes missions entirely seriously (unless she’s in a pre-determined cut-scene, where she’ll play along the role of the cliché hero and avoid saying anything that might out her as the idiot she is). She is the niece of my oldest PSO character Brocolli, and is very close friends with her roommate LiFi (PSO2), and my friends’ characters Starnova (PSOBB/PSO2), Scarmiglio (PSOBB) and Tabby (PSO2). Willow (2019)
An original character I created for Dungeons & Dragons. Willow is a Druid who lives in the woods, trying to do good in the world by using her knowledge of medicines to create and sell baked goods with healing properties. While she appears human, she is actually an Aasimar - a race who have a divine connection to a deity, one who speaks to her with vague messages and requests within her dreams. Her adventure begins after she recieves her first-such communication in a very long time. Mid-way through the adventure, she was infected with ceremorphosis, but thanks to intervention from her deity her life was saved, but became permanently 1/4 Mindflayer.
