Comic #21 - Fun

Panel 1

Following on from the previous comic, it is dusk, with the sunset illuminating the foreground, with a dark pink sky and dim blue city buildings in the distance. Brianna and Camomile are leaving The Cubby. Brianna is locking the door and Camomile stands nearby with her arms folded and a disappointed expression, holding a takeaway beverage cup. Camomile says “Why’ve you gotta be such a party-pooper about pumpkin stuff? Halloween is fun.” Brianna says “Of course it’s fun! I love Halloween!”

Panel 2

Brianna says “But Halloween is October. This is September. There is a time and a place, let me keep my holiday cheer neatly organised in little boxes.” She is gesturing downwards with her hands as if holding a box.

Panel 3

The two are walking along beside one another. Camomile, smiling, says “Okay, message recieved, I’ll calm it down until October.” Brianna, also smiling now, says “Thank you.”

Panel 4

The two continue to walk together in silence for a moment.

Panel 5

Camomile turns to Brianna again and says “So, have you started your Christmas shopping yet?” Brianna is furrowing her brow at Camomile in frustration.

Comic #22 - Play

Panel 1

It is daytime and Camomile is walking through a public park. She has stopped to look towards some children’s play equipment nearby. It is a small square area surrounded by a wooden fence, containing a slide, roundabout, swings and a simple climbing frame. She says “Man, that play area is the same as it was when I used to play in it as a kid… Hmm… and no-one’s around, I could just…

Panel 2

We see a sign on the fence surrounding the play area, which says “Under fourteens only” in large type.

Panel 3

Camomile looks slightly annoyed, arms folded but one hand sticking out gesturing towards the sign. She says “Ugh, why? Nothing has changed since I was little that stops me from having fun with this stuff.”

Panel 4

Camomile runs towards the slide and quickly ascends the ladder to the top, giggling “He he he he he he he he” the whole way. To heighten her mischeviousness, Camomile is drawn three times across the panel to represent her journey, in a more simple style with an exaggerated jogging pose and a goofy smile on her face.

Panel 5

Camomile plants herself onto the top of the slide and begins to go down, smiling with her arms in the air, excitedly yelling an elongated “Whee!”. Further down, there is a small “Fwomp” sound as her large, adult thighs get wedged between either side of the slide.

Panel 6

The view is unchanged. In the same position as the previous panel, Camomile notices that she is not moving as she lowers her arms and looks down towards her legs.

Panel 7

The view is unchanged. Camomile now has a panicked look on her face as she grips the slide with her hands and attempts to pull her body upwards to free her legs.

Panel 8

The view is unchanged, however it is now night-time, and Camomile is still on the slide, her thighs still wedged in the slide. She is now laying back onto it, her hands resting together upon her chest, and she is looking up at the night sky in slightly concerned contemplation.

Comic #23 - First

Panel 1

Camomile is dressed in a jacket and scarf as she walks through a park which is coloured with the browns and oranges of autumn. She is looking up happily and gesturing towards a brown leaf that is falling through the air as she says “The first leaf of Autumn!”

Panel 2

Camomile is happily squatting down with her hands on her knees, looking towards a pinecone on the ground as she says “The first pinecone of Autumn!”

Panel 3

Camomile is continues to walk, there is now gentle rain falling down on her and she is holding her head and hands up towards the sky to feel it, smiling with her eyes closed, as she says “The first light shower of Autumn!”

Panel 4

Camomile is now running with a panicked expression, the rain having turned dark and heavy upon her, as she yells “The first storm out of nowhere of Autumn!”

Panel 5

The rain still pouring down, Camomile is standing by the side of a road holding a half-open, ragged-looking umbrella down towards the ground, and a car is driving by, splashing a puddle of water all over her. Eyes scrunched closed in frustration, she yells “The first broken umbrella and freaking car splashing me of Autumn!?”

Panel 6

Camomile is sat cross-legged on her sofa at home in comfy clothing with a blanket draped around her and a mug of steaming tea in her hands. With a calm, albeit defeated expression, she says “The first cosy evening in of Autumn.”

Comic #24 - October

Panel 1

We are at The Cubby, Camomile is poking her head through the front door. She says “It’s the first of October! Are we good?”

Panel 2

Brianna is sat at the coffee bar, working on a laptop computer. Without looking up from her work, she gestures towards a ceramic jack-o-lantern pumpkin decoration, covered in cracks and cobwebs, on the counter next to her and says “I have the pumpkin out, don’t I?”

Panel 3

Camomile fully enters through the door, pumping her fists up in celebration as she says “Woohoo!” A carrier bag is hanging from one of her arms, and she is revealed to be wearing a bright orange sweater with “Let’s Get Spooky” written on it, and various simplistic Halloween characters below the text - a black cat, a bat, a spider hanging from a thread and a ghost.

Panel 4

Camomile pulls a box out of the carrier bag and puts it on the counter in front of Brianna, smiling. Camomile says “Here, I made an early Halloween cake for you.” Brianna excitedly responds with “Ooh!”

Panel 5

We see a close-up of the cake in the box as Brianna lifts the lid off the top. It is bright orange with a spiderweb decoration on top, as well as the writing “Happy Halloween Brianna!”. A slice has been cut out from the cake, straight through Brianna’s name.

Panel 6

Brianna says “Why is there a slice missing?” Camomile, with a slight concerned smile says “Uh, I had to, test it, for, poison?”

Panel 7

Brianna gives an expression of disbelief and says “Why would a cake you baked for me be poisoned?” Camomile looks away from Brianna with a serious expression, saying “Dang it, she’s good.”

Comic #25 - Casual

Panel 1

We are at a clothing shop. Camomile looking at us and is posing slightly with her arms half raised, and is wearing a top we haven’t seen her in before - a baggy purple sweater which has alternating horizontal stripes of opaque and sheer material. Camomile says “What do you think? I still dunno what I’m doing for a Halloween costume, but I wanted some casual, sombre Autumnwear too.”

Panel 2

We see it is Brianna she is talking to, who looks at the top and says “It’s nice, I like it!”

Panel 3

Brianna continues, saying “Only thing. I can totally see your bra.” Camomile responds enthusiastically, pointing upwards as she says “Yes! Good! Bras are super expensive and this is the only tasteful top I could find to show this one off!”

Panel 4

Brianna smiles and says “Oh, cool then! It’s a nice bra!” Camomile once again responds enthusiastically, gesturing both hands into the air now as she says “It is a nice bra!”

Comic #26 - Pumpkins

Panel 1

We see Brianna and Camomile in Brianna’s car as they drive down a winding road on a hill in the countryside. Brianna says “My family and I have gotten our Halloween pumpkins from here ever since I was like, five or something.” As Brianna drives, Camomile is looking out towards the scenery at the bottom of the hill, which is a fairly large rustic looking building, with a large sign on the roof labelling it as “Bay Valley Farm Shop”. To the left of the building is a car park, and to the right is the entrance to a muddy field, with a banner above the entrance saying “Pumpkin Patch 2017”. The area around the building consists of several pathways connecting areas across grass, and there is a large jack-o-lantern pumpkin decoration near the entrance to the field. In the field itself, we can see a tiered wooden display with lots of pumpkins on it and a ghost decoration up above, but there are plenty of loose pumpkins dotted around the field too. There is a modest number of visitors dotted around the Farm Shop’s grounds.

Panel 2

Brianna and Camomile are now out of the car and down at the pumpkin patch field themselves. Brianna is looking around cheerfully as she says “This farm is a precious sanctuary of a place.” Behind her, Camomile has an expression of amused excitement as she looks down at something on the ground and yells a big “Ha!”

Panel 3

Brianna looks concerned, glancing to the side with one hand on her hip and raising a pointed finger with her free hand in Camomile’s direction. She says “There’s to be no tarnishing of it with references to anything related to adult life, okay?” Camomile is bending down to pick up what she was laughing at in the previous panel.

Panel 4

Brianna turns around to face Camomile fully, who is holding up a pumpkin that has been blurred out from our view as if it is somehow explicit. Camomile is saying “This pumpkin looks like a-” but the end of her speech bubble is blocked by Brianna’s head in the foreground.

Panel 5

We see Brianna’s car in the car park, with Camomile sitting in the passenger seat with a sad expression on her face. In the foreground, Brianna walks away with a grumpy expression, holding the keys up in the air as she remotely locks the car.

Comic #27 - Movies

Panel 1

In Camomile’s living room, Camomile stands smiling and holding two DVD cases. She says “Well, we have time for two movies. So we’ve got Functional Sorcery, the Halloween classic that Brianna and I watch every year. Or, uh, what Vienna brought.”

Panel 2

“Face Carver… 5?” Camomile continues, looking dismayed at the second DVD cover. She quietly says “Didn’t carve enough faces in the first four, huh?”

Panel 3

We see Vienna and Brianna sitting down on Camomile’s sofa in the same room, Brianna holding a bowl of popcorn. Vienna smiles and says “I vote Face Carver, obviously.” Brianna says “You said we have time for two, what’s the question here? We can watch the scary one first and the fun one after to cool off.”

Panel 4

Camomile, still looking worried, glances towards the first DVD and quietly says “Or we can just watch the fun one twice.”

Panel 5

The three are now watching the TV, which is out of view. The light coming from the TV is a dim blue. Vienna is smiling, holding a fizzy drink in a plastic bottle, Brianna has a neutral expression with the popcorn bowl on her lap. Camomile is wearing a small blanket, sitting with her feet up on the sofa, knees bunched up near her face which she is partially hiding behind, a stern look of worried concentration on her face.

Panel 6

The room is filled with a striking red light from the TV and Camomile screams loudly, the blanket flying up into the air as she swings her limbs out besides her in surprise. Vienna and Brianna are equally shocked at her reaction, Vienna squeezing her drink bottle and Brianna shaking popcorn out of the bowl.

Panel 7

The red light from the TV is still present as Vienna angrily turns to Camomile, drink spilt on her lap, and says “That was the pre-movie anti-piracy notice! It didn’t even make a noise!” Camomile turns to Vienna, the fallen blanket draped partially over hers and Brianna’s heads and with an upset expression yells “I know! It came out of nowhere!” Brianna looks down at the spilt popcorn all over herself and the sofa dejectedly.

Comic #28 - Sleep

Panel 1

Camomile is sat in bed in the dark, her face illuminated by the screen of her phone in her hands. Smiling, he says “That Face Carver 5 movie wasn’t that bad actually. Before we watched it, I really thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight, but now? I think I’ll be fine.”

Panel 2

Now completely in the dark, Camomile has laid down to sleep, her head turned away from us.

Panel 3

Still with eyes closed, Camomile has turned onto her back, her face pointed upwards.

Panel 4

From the same position, Camomile has now opened her eyes, not looking at all sleepy.

Panel 5

Camomile gets out of bed.

Panel 6

A nearby out-of-view lamp has been turned on as Camomile climbs back into bed.

Panel 7

Camomile again lays on her back, eyes closed.

Panel 8

Camomile opens her eyes again, looking even more intensely alert than before.

Panel 9

It is the next day, and Camomile is sat at the coffee bar in The Cubby. She has a defeated expression and heavy bags under her eyes, as Brianna pours filter coffee into a mug for her from behind the bar. Camomile says “In the end, it was the shame of lying to myself that kept me awake more than anything else.”

Comic #29 - Pickled

Panel 1

Camomile is in a supermarket, pushing a trolley as she walks past shelves with various products in glass jars.

Panel 2

She picks up a jar of pickled onions and inspects it.

Panel 3

Brianna approaches her from behind, and says “Pickled Onions huh?” Camomile, still focused on the jar, says “Yeah, well, I was thinking.”

Panel 4

We’ve pulled closer to Camomile, with Brianna now out of view. Camomile says “Whenever I get Fish and Chips, I always get a Pickled Onion too. But they cost about 30p each and a jar of twenty costs one pound, so.”

Panel 5

Camomile glances back towards Brianna now and continues, “If I buy them in bulk here, over the course of several months I’ll save what? Five pounds?”

Panel 6

Having put the jar into her trolley, Camomile continues walking with a cheerful expression and says “Goodness, I’m so financially responsible!” Brianna, now in view again, with an annoyed expression, says, “Cam, you eat out at my café like every other day.”

Comic #30 - Liking

Panel 1

We see a cropped view of a social media website, which lists “Suggested Posts”. The post we can see a small part of is by a username called “Sugar and Limelight” and is marked as having been liked by Brianna and 2 others. The contents of the image in the post are cropped out of view, however.

Panel 2

At The Cubby, we see Brianna turning around to Camomile, who is holding up her phone with the post on it, too small to see the details of. Cammie is smiling and says “Oh-ho! Liking shirtless photos of hot guys, are we?”

Panel 3

Brianna takes the phone and looks at it, with an annoyed expression as she blushes and says “Ugh! Why do some social media sites think I want people to know that?” Camomile squints and pokes her tongue out at Brianna and says “Well, if you didn’t like pervy photos you wouldn’t have to worry about it, you creeper.”

Panel 4

Brianna, smiling, turns away from Camomile and pulls out her own phone, passing Camomile’s back to her over her shoulder and says “Yeah, guess you’re right. Hey, I wonder what’s in my suggested posts?” Camomile stands on tip-toes to try and see what Brianna is looking at.

Panel 5

We see a cropped view of the social media site again, with Brianna’s “Suggested Posts” showing a post by a username called “Best Pin-Up Co”. The post says "Definitely the best shot from yesterday’s underwear-only photoshoot.” with the photo cropped out of view once again. Where the previous post we saw was marked as being liked by Brianna, this post, in that same area, is marked as “They didn’t like it or share it or anything, but Chamomile stare at this photo for like 30 seconds before scrolling past.”

Panel 6

Camomile is looking up into the air with determination and a raised, clenched fist as she says “Technology has gone too far.” Brianna, still looking down at her phone with a concerned expression, says “You watched this video of a cat attacking a watermelon 47 times?” Camomile, expression unchanged, responds quietly “It’s a very good video.”
